What We Belive

God, Jesus, Holy Spirit

There is only one God, who exists as the Holy Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Son stepped out of eternity into time and became a man. We know him as Jesus. Jesus is the Godman, fully God and fully man. The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, is actively involved in the world leading people to repentance and enabling believers.

Scripture

There is only one written authority for doctrine and practice.  It is the 66 books of the Bible. The scriptures are inerrant regarding all things necessary for salvation and doctrine.

Sin

Sin spread from Adam, the forefather of the human race to every human being, so that every person is born with a sin nature (original sin). The sin nature leads each person to commit acts of sin (actual sin).  Sin separates each of us from God.

Salvation and Grace

Since each person is under sin, each person is born lost, and dead to the things of God.  Each of us is in need of salvation. We can only be saved because of Jesus Christ's death on the cross. On the cross, Jesus bore our sins, taking our punishment. We can accept or reject God's offer of salvation because of the Holy Spirit awakening our dead and lost hearts. We accept God's offer of salvation by placing our faith in Jesus and repenting of our sins.  The moment we do that, we are   justified, born-again, and adopted into the family of God.

Sanctification

After salvation, every believer is to go on to the deeper work of sanctification. When a believer makes a total surrender to God and consecrates him/herself totally, the Holy Spirit does a deeper work in that believer's heart, giving the believer greater power to resist sin, filling the believer's heart with the Holy Spirit. God calls His children to live a holy life. Sanctification makes the holy life possible. Christians cannot be sinless in the life, but they can live a life that is characterized by Christ-likeness.  This deeper life is the called sanctification according to the Scriptures.

Other Doctrines

Every believer should be baptized as an act of obedience after being saved. Upon becoming a Christian, each believer should become part of a local church, which is an expression of the universal church.  There are two Sacraments in the Bible:  The Lord's Supper (Communion) and Baptism.  We believe in healing.  God heals in one of three ways, medical science, divine healing or the ultimate healing in Heaven.

End Times

We don't focus on divisive end time doctrines.  Our statement is brief:  Jesus will return to this earth in bodily form. Those who have died in the faith will rise from the grave. We who are alive will also rise to meet Him in the skies. There will be two resurrections. The righteous will be raised to enjoy eternal life. Those who have rejected Christ in this life will be raised to eternal damnation. Every person will appear before the throne of God to be judged.
